Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?

A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.

Title: Pollination of Fendlera rupicola
Answered by: Nan Hampton

QUESTION:

How/by what is Fendlera rupicola pollinated?

ANSWER:

The Arizona-New Mexico Pollinator Partnership Guide lists, bees, flies, butterflies and moths as the pollinators of Fendlera rupicola (Cliff fendlerbush)The Arches National Park in Utah says:  "other genera in this family are pollinated by insects."

One reference indicated that Fendlera rupicola was visited by Pyrgus communis, common checkered-skipper, but this was shown only in the index of a book that wasn't named.
