Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?
A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.
Did you know you can access the Native Plant Information Network with your web-enabled smartphone?
Ask Mr. Smarty Plants is a free service provided by the staff and volunteers at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Title: Removing leaves before transplanting from Miami
Answered by: Barbara Medford
QUESTION:
What is good idea to remove some leaves before transplanting a plant??ANSWER:
You didn't say what you were transplanting, but we will assume it is probably a woody plant, a tree or shrub. We found a website, Hometime.com that had an article on Trees and Shrubs that specifically deals with advance preparations for making transplants successful. In Florida, you should definitely wait until it has cooled off before you start the transplant process, and this article mentions several things you can do in advance to make it easier and give your plant a better chance of surviving.
