Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?
A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.
Did you know you can access the Native Plant Information Network with your web-enabled smartphone?
Ask Mr. Smarty Plants is a free service provided by the staff and volunteers at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Title: Hyptis alata information for San Marcos TX
Answered by: Barbara Medford
QUESTION:
We saw a plant called Hyptis olata at the WFC plant sale today and cannot find it in the NPIN list. THis is a new one to us. Can you tell us something about it? THanks.ANSWER:
Here you go: Hyptis alata (Clustered bushmint). I think the misspelling of the species name (olata instead of alata) was what threw you.
Additional information and pictures.
Thank you for coming. We will still be open tomorrow and Sunday.
