QUESTION:

Do jade plants grow in South Carolina; if, so where?

ANSWER:

Crassula ovata (Jade Plant) is native to South Africa. It is ordinarily used as a house plant, but obviously not growing natively in South Carolina. The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, home of Mr. Smarty Plants, is dedicated to the growth, propagation and protection of plants native not only to North America but to the areas in which those plants grow naturally.
