Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?
A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.
Did you know you can access the Native Plant Information Network with your web-enabled smartphone?
Ask Mr. Smarty Plants is a free service provided by the staff and volunteers at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Title: Control of grapevines in trees
Answered by: Jimmy Mills
QUESTION:
Grapevines have overtaken some of the trees on our property in Central Texas. What is the best way to get rid of the grapevines and (hopefully) save the trees?ANSWER:
There are at least 14 species of grapes native to Texas, and some can cause problems such as you have described. I am going to refer you to the answer to a similar question from a couple of years back.I would also like to refer you to a site that describes some of the more pleasant properties of grapes.
