Habitat: Full sun. In ditch, frequently inundated. Alkaline soil. Large colony. Common in community.
Description: Slender, erect plant to 120 cm tall, 9 mm dia near base, 4-6 mm near head. Pith white. Perennial from creeping rhizome. Leaves dark green, convex on back, 7 mm or less broad. Staminate spike above and separated from pistillate, 1 x 27 cm. Pistillate spike 2 cm or more dia x 15+ cm long, dense, medium brown.
