Abstract

Investigates seed and fruit predation of two Opuntia species (including O. stricta) that are invasive in the Mediterranean region. Seed predation, mostly by mice, resulted in high seed losses. However, more than 75% of seeds dispersed by birds to non-invaded areas were not predated. This article may provide useful information on seed dispersal and predation of O. stricta in its native habitat.
