A long stalk topped by 1 flower with very long, narrow, spreading, brownish or purplish-green sepals and pink petals.
This orchid, one of only 2 species in this genus, is related to the genus Pogonia. Although it can occupy either wet or dry sites, it apparently requires a habitat with very acidic soil.
