A leafy plant with 1 or several stems, and a few yellow flowers on branches at the top.
Geums with yellow flowers are difficult to distinguish from Cinquefoils (Potentilla), but in Geum species the style is divided into an upper and lower part, and in most western species the leaves are also narrow at the base and broad at the tip.
